My Artist Journey
I've been answering the creative call all of my life.
Growing up on an organic farm with no TV left more than enough time to exercise a vivid imagination. Southern Wisconsin’s driftless area is magnificent, but I had to stretch my creative wings. My first taste of fine art training was at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Through scholarships and working part time, I was able to study fine art. I moved back home intending to experience life a little more before I defined my career. I spent most my twenties working in sales. The overwhelming desire to create led me back to design, and I earned a degree in graphic design and marketing. After a very successful career in graphic design and marketing, my husband and I started our family. We have two wonderful children, with whom I spend as much time with as possible, learning and playing amid the natural beauty of northern Wisconsin. The Northwoods as embraced my approach to fine art and teaching with an open mind to creativity and new mediums. |
I am an Assemblage artist. What is Assemblage? Assemblage is an artistic form or medium usually created on a defined substrate that consists of three-dimensional elements projecting out of or from the substrate. It is similar to collage, a two-dimensional medium. It is part of the visual arts, and it typically uses found objects but is not limited to these materials. My art is created in my home studio. I spend my art life piecing together objects that feel right together. I find composing a piece of art with found objects a unique way to create something beautiful and full of mystery. Education
